Washington state has a law called "mutual combat," which
allows people to engage in freely engaged fisticuffs if supervised by a police officer. This sounds like just the sort of thing I've long advocated. I can't seem to find much data on how it's worked out, though, which probably means that it hasn't been a total disaster.

If I strike a cop, isn't that fight already supervised by a police officer?
