"That is so wikked kewl!" says the VES. I guess you've earned the stamp of approval from the Dark Side teen. Way to go, T99!

BTW, I though it was too cool, too, which is why I showed it to her in the first place.

I am not often given to jealousy but I'm envious of Cameron's going to the Mariana Trench!

I heard around that time - to explain just how deep the Mariana Trench is - that if Mount Everest were under water, there would still be one mile of water above it. Can you imagine! I'm surprised that wasn't on this graphic (unless I missed it).

Yes, that would have been a good addition- Mt. Everest being 8848 meters, if set at the depth of the Marianas Trench, would come up a little short of the bottom of Lake Baikal- to get a graphic sense of it.

It's also good to realize just how deep may oil reserves are (but not all)- in the chart over 7 miles deep- and therefore how much work is involved to get it- plus the exploration before one hits a good well. But those evil oil companies are just taking shared natural resources and selling them back to us for obscene profits...right.

Yes! I have as much right to that rare spice from the East Indies as the guy who built a ship and risked death to sail over there and bring it back while I sat here on my butt. Price gouger! They have always been with us.
