Curses Foiled Again

Red State reports on Reddit witches:

In the subreddit "r/WitchesVsPatriarchy," user "feelmycocobeats" claims that witches have been mentioning that doing spells "directly against tRump are not as effective as we might hope as he seems to have some kind of protection around him."

The user then begins to strategize about spell casting, saying a "freezer spell against Project 2025 would likely be useful," but even if what she was suggesting was actually based in reality, it wouldn't matter because Project 2025 isn't Trump's, it's the Heritage Foundation's plan. Trump's plan is Agenda 47.

The user then suggested "uplifting" spells to help Kamala Harris and the Democrats.

This is apparently an ongoing thing. There are news articles at least from 2017 and 2020 about this.

A person may be protected and even chosen by God to be a leader without that implying that God things they are a good person or a decent leader. Hitler and Stalin were both allowed to lead their peoples, for example. It is good to try and understand God's reasons. It is not good to assume we have done so accurately with any firmness. The Red State writer does not seem to get that.

Nonetheless he identifies a real phenomenon out there. It is very said. The wiccans I have known are largely sad women who have Borderline Personality Disorder. I do know exceptions.

Genghis Khan was supposed to have said something to the effect of, “If your sins were not great, God would not have sent such a punishment as me upon you.” I assume that the quote may be apocryphal, but the idea follows.

Wishing thinking is the besetting sin not only of political parties but of the human race in general. Nevertheless, I could wish that even more wrongheaded people would limit themselves to wishful thinking instead of figuring out some more effective way of sowing destruction among their fellow citizens. Please keep casting spells, destroying your own credibility, and--above all--declining to vote because it's no use in an imperfect system.

As memory serves, one of the rules acknowledged by most Wiccans is that good and ill are returned three-fold. So casting spells to harm may well rebound, with unhappy results for the caster. Asatru has something similar, at least the variants I've researched.
