I mean, I always carry one pair of extra socks when backpacking just to sleep in. One more additional single sock would not be the end of the world.

I don't use a coffee filter at home. I add coffee grounds to a cup of hot water and let the coffee grounds sink to the bottom of the cup. As such, I find the sock to be rather high-class.
Hey, do either of you drink BRCC coffee? I usually like a pretty dark roast, so I tried their Murdered Out, but the taste really was murdered out. I like to wrestle with mine, but it was dead on the floor.

I do the same with tea.
Too high tone for you?
I usually make cowboy coffee without a filter, too. But from day to day, I use the things. Wife likes it better that way.
That's going to be a cold walk out if you didn't pack a spare sock.

Any suggestions for their stuff I might try?
A little dash of cold water will sink the grounds and get it drinking temp at the same time.
Jackson Hole has a coffee company that makes what they call"Cowboy French." It's solid. I used to order it in 5 pound sacks.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check them out.
