1: Old News! We already got hot and bothered about this story in 2016, and don't notice it's the same story from then.
2: Have you SEEN a 1953 issue $2 note? The back looks wrong (like it was printed at the wrong scale), and the red seal is unlike anything currently circulating.
3: The cashier is not a numismatist, but is charged to be wary of what doesn't look right. And the "2nd opinion" is for better or worse, the "counterfeit detection pen" which will indicate any pre-1960 bill as 'counterfeit' (but won't identify bleached-$1-notes-reprinted-as-$50-notes, nor any wrong-paper fake bill that's been sprayed with hairspray . . . .

I’ve got some $2 bills in my safe; I just saw one of them the other day while trying to find a birth certificate for insurance purposes. But mostly I just wanted to post this Hank Sr. song!

When I was a child in New England, Kaw-Liga was one of the dozen or so records in my collection that I played on a small portable record player. Also some of Alvin and the Chipmunks. (There was also a short version of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty, which was more typical of my parents' collection.)

Decades later, in expanding my musical horizons to Western Swing and other genres, I heard Hank Williams sing "Kaw-liga." I suddenly realized that I had known this song for decades. I hadn't identified Kaw-liga as a Hank Williams song. Just as a good song.

Dad, when he was with us, was a big fan of $2 bills. He loved using them on some unsuspecting pretty young cashier, and he loved to gift them to us and to his grandchildren. They'll always remind me of him and his fun loving spirit. I keep one he gave me in my wallet always.
