    Their happy burbles made me think of how the ravens in the Hobbit were good and noble, as contrasted by Tolkien with the crows.

  3. I hadn't thought about the distinction there. I wonder why he did that.

    Ravens can live a long time. Maybe that's one of the same ones that were trying to exercise eminent domain on our sandwiches.

  4. Several starlings tried to steal my breakfast one morning in San Diego, but alas I don't think Tolkien wrote about starlings.
