A long time ago now, and very few are alive who remember it. Since we have had pipers this week, here’s a couple of videos remembering the role of Bill Millin. He was one man among many thousands, all united in common purpose.
The elite media sources still drop their line in, because it is still great human interest to interview some old guy who landed on Omaha Beach or liberated a death camp. Yet it was about five years ago that it suddenly hit me that once those guys are gone, only nutcases like us are going to bring it up anymore. Interest kept dropping yearly, but I don't think it has gotten much worse in the last ten years, because there were still photo ops with old guys. But that string will run out in a year or two. NH, a small state, lost two of its last five this year. Bigger states will last longer, but curiosity is not the same as story
