According to the All-Knowing Wikipedia, on this day in 1781, "British forces led by Lord Cornwallis officially surrendered (pictured) to Franco-American forces under George Washington and the Comte de Rochambeau, ending the Siege of Yorktown."
I had the good fortune to be able to visit the museum and battlefield of Yorktown as a schoolboy. I still have vivid memories of it over 35 years on. I can highly recommend a visit.
May God bless, and continue to save, America.

ReplyDeleteI'd love to tour the eastern half of the US with it's Revolutionary and Civil War battlefields some day. A summer off should do.
