Umm, Roger...

Fox News owes Donald Trump a bazillion dollars. He has single-handedly transformed their broadcast of the first Republican presidential debate on August 6 — normally a routine event almost a year and a half out from an election and of significant interest only to political junkies – into a coup de television equivalent to Caitlyn Jenner appearing nude on Sixty Minutes. Who wouldn’t want to watch?
What?

I'd pay money for the privilege of being excluded, as I'm sure would many.

Jenner …. nude ... Sixty Minutes.

    I need some mind bleach.

As for The Donald, I watched his announcement that he is running and read the transcript. It has not escaped my notice that the media selected only a snippet of what he had to say, and they missed the point, which was a stinging criticism of our government for failing to know who is coming into our country. Then, they talked about only him, only one subject he addressed, and ignored all the rest of them.

Our media is 'way too interested in drowning out Republican candidates.

McCain is not a war hero because there was nothing particularly valorous about his service.
Trump is right. What McCain did to his first wife is criminal.

  3. McCain is the first to say he wasn't a war hero, but that he knew them: men like Bud Day. But he was, of course, a combat pilot who was shot down and crippled, tortured to try to force his father's compliance, and who held up throughout. If he wasn't a hero, it's a high bar.

Whether he was a good man anywhere else is a separate question. Trump wants to talk about the qualities that are worthy in men of war, well, he'd best just shut up and sit down. He had his chance to be a man other men would take seriously on these questions, and he chose to chase other things instead.

Who has the brain bleach? Because I so did not need that mental image this morning. Either of those mental images, actually.

  6. I have little use for John McCain as a Senator. But I will also have words with any who question his patriotism, valor, or honor during his time as a POW. It is not his own account of what he went through that convinces me of this, it is the words of the honorable men who served with him in that godforaken prison that does so. I don't think there are many alive today who have the standing to question the word of those men.

I enjoyed these Trump interviews regarding the getting rid of VA, firing them all! and defunding planned parenthood, blaming Bush family for Roberts Supreme Court Obamacare.

  10. McCain's conduct as a POW wins him enormous respect in my eyes.

And he's managed to burn up just about all that respect with his conduct in politics. Which is really a rather remarkable achievement when you look at it the right way.
