Ode to the BLT

A poem.

The sentiment reminds me of a clip I saw about a family whose tomatoes have typically come from a regular grocery store getting some real ones.


UPDATE:

The sentiment of the poem caused me to make BLTs for my wife's lunch.

  1. A very younger version of Alton Brown with a different way to BLT (or TBL, in order of taste preference). Was lucky enough to have a decent crop of fresh tomatoes to make this a week or so ago.

    My wife and I rode into Fairfield, Montana a few years back, and received two BLT's that should have been laid at an altar.
    Homemade bread, thick home cured bacon, fresh lettuce and tomato's. The best I have ever had. I hope the place is still there.
    Half the shop was given over to handmade rustic furniture, the other side was the cafe, operated by a lovely woman with a bonnet and long skirt.
    A BLT is generally a "safe" bet anywhere, but this was something else indeed.

  3. The BLT is not a bacon sandwich, but a tomato sandwich. Kenji recommends only making them in August or September.
