In Fairness, However...

She's just right about this. This point is completely correct.

Her classism is showing, because she’s talking in terms of dormitories; but it’s also exactly why the services use barracks until they get young soldiers, sailors, airmen or Marines married off to someone else who will look after them.

  1. That is mostly incorrect. Airmen, soldiers, sailors and Marines are put in barracks or dormitories because it's less expensive than paying for off base housing and subsistence pay. I lived in a two man dormitory room while serving in Germany for two plus years.

    1. If you say so. I’ve got a son in that age group. I have high hopes for him, but I see the age group up close.

  2. It's cheaper, and it's easier to get them to focus intently on a novel and very demanding phase of their development, whether in the military or the university. That's especially so if they're young and have no experience in running a household yet.

She's right in some sense, yes- but the irony is she's on the side saying we should *lower* the voting age.
