What's with all the saguaro cacti in the video; I grew up in Odessa, and there aren't any native saguaro in the Texas deserts or plains.

  2. That’s true. The Reverend Horton Heat wrote a song about that.

No Suguaros in Texas? Like the song says, you can tell a Texan but you can't tell him much. :)

I doubt that Willie had much to do with the visuals.

The song had a good Western Swing to it.

  4. Country music, even outlaw country, eventually devolves into box-checking stereotypes. Lone Star Beer, Stetson hats? Sure, but what's the point?

I suppose the NH equivalent would be name-dropping maple syrup, skiing, and the Kanc. Not enough people to sell records to about that, I suppose. If there was money in it, there's someone up here who would write the lyrics, I imagine.

lol...that's true AVI, the company I work for is headquartered in Texas and run by Texans.

Myself, I live in N Florida but they are always surprised when I tell them the temperature here because they are thinking beaches, palm trees and Disney ;-)

  6. Florida is pretty miserable once you get around a hundred yards from the coast.

AVI, I agree it’s not very original; but the man is ninety years old! He probably doesn’t have a lot of Outlaw left. At least he’s still being productive, and seems to be enjoying his time.

I wish everyone thought was miserable too!
Then maybe they would stop moving here in droves, making it even more miserable for me ;-)

  8. Novelty is overrated.

I hate to say it, nmewn, but I've loved all the time I've spent in Florida. Sorry.

But, thinking about Grim's opinion of the state, I did mostly stay w/ in 100 yards of the coast on the landward side. Got much further out in the gulf than 100 yards, though.
