  8. I think the original would have been more like:
    "Rowly, powley, gammon and spinnage"
    since both gammon and spinnage have to do with fooling people. (I think the word "spinnage" needs a resurrection--spin-meisters need something appropriate to describe their work.)

    Rowley powley means:

    1) A plump fowl
    2) Peas
    3) A pudding dish (called Rowley Powley)
