Heh. Just got back from one- Table Mt in the North Cascades. Easy for younger folks- the elevation gain and exposure were slightly intimidating to this old dog. One thing to place a foot wrong when the drop is ten or twenty feet. Quite another when it is 100 foot plus.
Lots of warning signs on Nootsack falls- lots of casualties, as would be expected, most were young men.
That waterfall is, I estimate, 500 yards from the fire department. We can Medivac by helicopter from there to regional hospitals. I also estimate based on today’s expedition that it would take between four and eight hours to move a seriously injured victim those 500 yards.
You know, I think we need to go the other way. What we need is a pack mule trained to do it. We could get in and out of there with the injured in an hour with a mule who could move them.

ReplyDeleteSo is that Charlie's Creek or Sols Creek?
DeleteThat is a long time to keep someone alive.
ReplyDeleteIs there new tech, like battery heated survival blankets, available?
