When my son took his first professional job I advised him to make sure he learned the name of the receptionist, the guys in the mailroom and shipping department, the security guard and other such. Just because you have a better job than them doesn't mean you are better than them; and you'd be surprised how when (not if) you f**k up the fact that you have treated such people as people instead of furniture can make a whale of a difference.
