Cutting Off One’s Nose...

...to spite one’s face.

  1. From the link: I was fit in 2016, before Trump. But when you stop, it goes. And it goes quickly.

It goes especially quickly when you spend your time feeling sorry for yourself, wallowing in your self-pity.

She might have spent her time disaster-prepping instead of gambling.

  2. She might have done many things, but now she can't open jars.

  3. I understand feeling things like this, or even acting on it in some way. What I really don't understand is the public airing of it. Isn't she ashamed of it, and why would she want the world to know she's been so irrational and silly? Sane people want to hide these things, or even better, change them. It's a strange culture that promotes this.

  4. I'm shocked to find that sulking didn't work out for her as a life strategy. I guess I'll have to try something else.

I noticed a Slate article in the RealClearPolitics headlines this morning, something about refusing to celebrate Christmas because Trump. Trump Mummmph. Trump Grump. I'm going inna garden and eat some worms.

Long may this strategy last. It's making 2020 look pretty good.

  5. She's Australian. Trump winning doesn't even affect her that much, except in the long run. The symbolism of another tribe winning is what has brought her to this pass. Her life changes are a bit like symptoms of depression, though mild. What kind of adult can't function when the world doesn't look the way she wants?
