You need to brush up on your Middle Earth fanaticism! Elrond was Rivendell, Galadriel and Cereborn, or something like that, were Lorien. Cerewhoever didn't have much of a role.
It happens that I remember Celeborn’s name, but it doesn’t take away from your point. Galadriel was the greatest of the elves in Middle Earth, greater than Glorfindel, one whose only fear of striving with Sauron lay in how she would be changed by her victory.
Celeborn’s most important statement, in my opinion:
“Do not despise the lore that has come down from distant years; for oft it may chance that old wives keep in memory word of things that once were needful for the wise to know.”
I have no objection to people writing epic fantasy with female wizards and heroic characters. Go right ahead.
ReplyDeleteChanging what someone else has written, because you decided you wanted to piggyback on their fame? that I object to.
Stick with the Entwives
ReplyDeleteGaladriel wasn't enough? Can anyone even remember her husband's name?
ReplyDeleteElron somebody.
ReplyDeleteTheir family trees are very funny

And Celeborn's warning plays out in the end of Return of the King, albeit with a touch of humor as well as heroism.

ReplyDeleteToo busy learning about Source's/Almighty's/God's Creation for that.
I'm reading the lore of human creation right now, and boy is it different from the accepted scientific consensus story.
