The story behind the song George Will hated, "Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother." The author of the song explains how he was one of the hippies. The story is pretty amusing.
George Will hated that song? Doesn't say much for George, does it? Guess the irony was too subtle for George's intellect. Unfortunately, the videos don't appear to be available.
Regarding George Will hating the song, I suspect that George had little in common with either party- neither the redneck ass-kicking cowboys nor the the cosmic cowboy hippie singer songwriters. George apparently viewed it as a plague on both their houses.
Back in the day, I liked both George Will's columns and "Up against the wall, redneck mother." Guess that redneck mother won out.
I shudder to think what George Will thinks of "Screw You, We're From Texas" (from Hubbard's Growl album, which does not have a single bad song on it). I've seen Hubbard live twice and as much as I like his music, the best part of his concerts is his story-telling.

Here is another Ray Wylie favorite of mine, with Emily Kaitz. I Will Stay With You.
ReplyDeleteReally? They work for me. I’ll try to look at the code.
ReplyDeleteYou using Explorer Gringo? I know the videos don't show up (just a black box) in older versions. Chrome and Firefox work.
ReplyDeleteI use Firefox. Yesterday, the video wasn't "available" for me- neither on this site nor on YouTube. Today, the video IS available. Go figure.
