I thought I recalled that Grim didn't think much of ex-Georgia-governor Sonny Perdue. I was right. Anyway, Trump has picked him for Secretary of Agriculture.
I wonder why? He's not a farmer. He served in the Air Force to the rank of Captain, and was a career politician after that. I'm sure he learned something about agriculture as governor of Georgia, of course, but he can't be the most qualified guy in America for the office.
It's a pretty good guess. I don't much care for bait-and-switch politicians. But I'm also irritated with Sonny, more recently, for using his ties to get his cousin the Republican nomination for the Senate here in Georgia, a man who had no qualifications for the office other than being somebody's cousin. You're familiar with my dislike of corruption, to include family dynasties in American politics.

ReplyDeleteGiven the lateness of the announcement, it may be that the offers were down to him; everyone ahead of him having declined.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Trump never asked me. I'd have accepted just for the chance to go against some of those Democrat "Senators."

Grim, What is wrong with Sonny Perdue?
ReplyDeletePerhaps its who Perdue is going to hire or fire?
Mississippi
I suspect it mostly has to do with Gov. Purdue's faithless inability to keep basic promises he made to constituents. But that's just a guess.

ReplyDelete...a man who had no qualifications for the office other than being somebody's cousin....
ReplyDeleteWell, you know what they say in Louisiana, if not Georgia: down here, we all cousins. You got a cousin, you got a vote.
