Summer in the Outer Hebrides

This is the right moment to be nostalgic for summer, as winter is about to come upon us. Such islands as the Hebrides are rich in story, as well as the glory of nature.

  1. That looks like a fun place to beat around in a small craft in the summer,do some fishing and camp on the beaches. Sort of a modern day "go a'viking", in a peaceable way!

  2. 57 deg isn't a proper summer temperature. Mrs Hines' third son wasn't raised up to be cold.

  3. A man can go where he likes, until he must go where he must. But it seems like a fine place to me.

  4. Eric, been many a time I have said that up in the Brooks Range- I can recall waking up to ice on the tent and frozen boots. In late August. A beautiful place, where life is thin on the bone and one can sense winter is always close. One of the last true North American wildernesses.

Wiki on climate in Stornaway, largest town in the Outer Hebrides.

January Average high and low: 44.6 Deg, 35.6 Deg.
August Average high and low: 60.6 Deg, 50.5 Deg.

Annual average high and low: 51.8 Deg, 42.1 Deg.

That is overall much more pleasant than the New England climate I grew up in. Granted, a summer day there sounds more like a Texas winter day, but I consider a Texas winter rather pleasant- much more pleasant than a Texas summer day.
As the winter isn't very cold, I don't think I would mind the climate there.

I didn't realize that Donald Trump's mother was from Tong in the Outer Hebrides.
