Good song, good video. It captures the ambivalence of those moving from a job-starved home area in the east to jobs in the west- a movement that has occurred both in Canada and in the US. One difference is that in the trek west. one will probably see more trees in Canada than in the US. As Stan Rogers died in the US, we have a certain claim on him. He wasn't the first and he won't be the last Canadian to achieve a certain degree of fame in both countries.
Yeah, it sounds like something, but I can't place it either. I have noticed that occasionally Corb Lund's playing seems similar to Rogers's, though. I wonder if that's it.
