Gird. Loins. Hmm. OK, I have heavy pants, thick leather belt, a wallet, flashlight, phone, keys, knife and .45. Is that "girded?" Or is something else required? Some kind of special arcane wrapping to secure my wakazashi? A silver belt buckle half the size of Texas? (always wanted one of those!)
"Thus to tell someone to “gird up their loins” was to tell them to get ready for hard work or battle. "
I've got a nice skull belt buckle I wear sometimes. But I was thinking of Job 38.
I find I'm quoting the Bible a lot lately -- far more than ever before in my life. I wonder what that means? I was never inclined to it in the old days, although I always respected men who could do it.
