The doooooooooooogs kids love toooooo.... smite? :)
That picture is adorable. Just the other day I was looking at pictures of Sausage The Magnificent Weiner Beast's first Christmas. He was just about that size, and that amount of ferocity.
Obviously I can't speak for all dachshunds, but Sausaggio was a brave, loyal, and amusing companion. We hired a dog walker when my husband was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Her husband had just left her destitute, and she cared for him when I was traveling.
She was so fond of him that she added a dachshund to her business cards and to the advertising on her car. Everyone in our neighborhood knew him - he really had personality.
He was a very special little guy - smartest dog we ever had. It's been 5 years now, and I still tear up every time I think of him.
A friend of mine from England just lost his dachshund. He's been devastated all week, poor fellow. No wife or child, all his family on the other side of the world, just a little dog to keep him company -- and in a foreign country, too. It's very hard.
Grooooaann. :)

Thanks for the smile.
We have had dachshunds for years. I am tired of all pets, and these have no redeeming qualities beyond cuteness, but they do have a lot of that.
ReplyDeleteFunny!

What a tragedy that dogs' lives are so short.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that, Grim.
ReplyDeleteIt's surprising such a little creature can occupy such a big part of the human heart.
