No one is sure why, but the Ebola epidemic in West Africa may have peaked.
Liberia in particular seems to be generating few new cases. It doesn't seem to be a case of success by the American military and financial effort, whose clinics are going surprisingly unused. (Which is not to say that they were misguided; we still don't know why the disease peaked and declined, and we certainly didn't know it would happen when the aid resources were committed.) It's less clear that the
other West African countries are out of the woods, but even there the signs are encouraging.
