Democratization of medicine

Doctors are famous for hating patients that Google, but the internet's ability to pry open a guild's lock on specialized knowledge in fast-changing technical fields is irreversible. Not all doctors like an informed patient, but some can respect one. Maybe the most self-assured doctors are best at this. Never trust a professional with a brittle self-image.

Doctor Credentials, the new aristocracy. The ones that didn't retire, think Hussein owes them for their job.

In spades. I have never run into a really competent person who was offended by questions or a difference of opinion.

Really? I've never met one. I've some that were as smart-a**ed as me; I had a bone doctor for a flight surgeon, who wasn't averse to me telling him what I had and what he'd prescribe for it; I've got one now who spends a lot of time discussing with me this or that aspect of my treatment, or anything else that strikes our fancy. 'Course, she's also not afraid to tell me the stuff I think I've discovered is garbage, but then she tells me why.
