Contracting Movement

On January 29th of this year, the federal government posted an advertisement seeking bids for a vendor contract to handle “Unaccompanied Alien Children“.

Not just any contract mind you, but a very specific contract – for a very specific number of unaccompanied minors: 65,000.

• Why would DHS and ICE be claiming “surprise” by the current influx of unaccompanied minors on the border in June, when they were taking bids for an exact contract to handle the exact situation in January?

• Secondly, how could they possibly anticipate 65,000 unaccompanied minors would be showing up at the border, when the most ever encountered in a previous year was 5,000 total ?
The contract posting is listed at the General Services Administration's contract website, FBO.gov, and looks legitimate. The claim that 5,000 was the previous maximal total, however, looks to be false, if we judge from this UNHCR report. The figure hasn't been that low since 2011; it doubled in 2012 and doubled again in 2013. So a 65,000 estimate is assuming a rate of increase that falls rather than continues steady. If the UN report is right, all the states bordering Mexico are seeing such immigration attempts up by about 400%.

So DHS is guilty of good planning, I guess.

Maybe they have a crystal ball like mine, or maybe they listen to the Obama Whispers.

There were also rumors of FEMA setting up emergency camps. It was supposed to be for Americans, since that was the logickal assumption given post Katrina sense.

But emergency camps are just as good for other refugees, so to speak.

This fracas set off my crap detector a while ago. I see a cynical political stunt. This is 'way too much like those "spontaneous" political protests featuring rent-a-mobs for my comfort.

The Palestinians have no trouble killing their own to make an advertising point, and this administration has demonstrated, over and over, that it will do the same.

  3. Well, now, of course, the contract offer is no longer valid, since there are no longer any unaccompanied alien children.

Oh, wait--they must intend the contract winner also to take responsibility for unaccompanied children making the commercial flight from, say, Dallas to, let's see, Chicago.

  4. Assuming that whoever alertly put out this bid was merely responding to a curve that an idiot could have traced, the question becomes: why couldn't the White House make sense of an exponential curve, too? Why is everything such a surprise to it? Even if the White House couldn't figure out in a vacuum that talking about amnesty for years might spur tens of thousands of desperate would-be immigrants to give it a shot, it might reasonably have twigged to the fact that an influx at the border was doubling and tripling at regular intervals.

    If they cared.

They are doing it on purpose. With malice aforethought. They are busy "fundamentally transforming America". There is NO action this administration has taken that has enhanced the USA's economy, military, or reputation.

At least Carter got helicopter full of Spec Ops killed trying to rescue American citizens. Hussein just leaves them to die in Benghazi to cover him selling stingers to the Taliban, to shoot down Seal Teams.

He said, "I'm good at killing people" you know.
