Still, I blame the storm more than I blame the computer models. The models are pretty good. It’s Nature that messed this up.H/t Watts Up with That, which adds the comment: "I hope he escapes from his alternate reality soon, people must be looking for him."

ReplyDeleteI think they are, too, in their proper context. But the models should stay on the runways and catwalks; they're really not very good at weather. Or climate.

ReplyDeleteThe writer is making a pretty absolute statement about a pretty deep subject.
It's possible that weather is entirely deterministic, but is still uncomputable beyond a certain time/accuracy tradeoff.
