MSNBC network contributor and former DNC communications director Karen Finney deplores the tone in the immigration debate:
Even Republicans in the Republican Party who were Latino [were] just disgusted with the tone. Those crazy crackers on the right — if they start with their very hateful language — that is going to kill them . . . .
As my neighbor used to tell her children, there's no "but" in an apology. If the one you're wording has a "but" in it, go away and work on it some more.
The alliteration defense is a good one. I'm as fond of alliteration as anyone. That pretty much opens things wide for creativity.
Yeah, well, I'm not offended. If you don't like me, tell me you don't like me. I can live with the fact that you don't like me, or people like me, or that you hate me or look down on people like me.
It turns out your opinion isn't very important to me at all, actually. So say what you mean, and let's be done with it.
It doesn't offend me much to be called a cracker, either. It does amuse me enormously to hear someone say she can't stand it when crackers use hate speech.
Oh, it's ok. She's tweeted that she's sorry if you're offended she just meant it as 'alliteration'.
ReplyDeleteOh, so it's ok for me to say something about those no-good n*****s and it's fine? And "sorry if you're offended"?*
NO! Racist language is racist, no matter how "playfully" you meant it.
*The non-apology that accepts no responsibility for the "apologizer's" actions, since it's your fault you were offended.

No offense. Bless your heart.
