I have many faults and lack many spiritual gifts, but one duty I've never found difficult is gratitude. I know how lucky I am, and how wonderful the life is that I've been born into.
I have that same sentiment - though the part I got born into has to compete with the part I got licensed for, the part I got commissioned into, and the part I got married into.
But heck, they're all wonderful.
I'll take a day to be grateful for 'em all and then read some Aristotle with Grim. And I really ought to be grateful for that, too.
A Sister of the Immaculate Heart once told me that gratitude was the highest form of prayer. It is right to give thanks. If I might add a wish, it would be that all of us find that we have only more to be thankful for next year.
"It is right and our duty to give thanks as priase," as the old Book of Common Prayer puts it. I was out walking this morning, there was one of those magnificent pastel stripe sunrises that are more than worth the price of admission.
Amen!

I'll second the Amen and add a thanks to our host, and to all the good folks who share their thoughts here at The Hall.
ReplyDeleteMay your blessings be many and your worries be few.
