The First Man to Walk on the Moon

Neil Armstrong died today. It was an honor to have shared the world with him for so long. I wonder if we shall live to share it with the first man to walk on Mars?

  2. Was he a Mason? My grandfather was a Mason, I am given to understand.

  4. I am in error. His father, Neil Armstrong Sr, was a Freemason. I had originally thought he was a part of the Tranquility Lodge #2000, but that was Buzz Aldrin.

  5. Also, if you are interested... you can contact the Grand Lodge that had jurisdiction over your Grandfather and receive a copy of his Masonic dues card and records. One of my lodge brothers clued me into that piece of information and I found masons falling out of the family tree left and right.

  6. A true giant of a man, but perhaps most noted for his modesty in the face of his historical fame. Godspeed.

As for the masonic info- that's fascinating- I know my grandfather was a Mason, I've seen the ring (Dad still has it). I may have to try to figure out his lodge and get his records.

  7. Douglas,

Do you know they state he went to lodge in, if so... that is all you need. Call that states Grand Lodge and speak to the secretary... someone will be thrilled to help you.

For example, I'm in Texas and called Missouri Grand Lodge on a Thursday seeking information on my Great-Great-Great Grandfather. I was asked to call the next Tuesday and after 5minutes I had his, and his brothers, dues cards in my email box.

  8. Daniel,
Indeed I do. I already looked at the website for the Grand Lodge, and plan on contacting them soon. Thanks for the tip!
