An Islamic cleric residing in Europe said that women should not be close to bananas or cucumbers, in order to avoid any “sexual thoughts.”
The unnamed sheikh, who was featured in an article on el-Senousa news, was quoted saying that if women wish to eat these food items, a third party, preferably a male related to them such as their a father or husband, should cut the items into small pieces and serve.
Apparently we've got it all wrong, boys. All that foolishness about cooking your wife or girlfriend a good meal on date night? Just shooting yourself in the foot.
Haven't I said before all the great chefs are men?
ReplyDeleteSo you have.
ReplyDeleteThere was a sci-fi series awhile ago, The Man-Kzin Wars, that had humans and rat-cats locked in mortal combat.
ReplyDeleteThe rat-cats had, some generations prior, bred the intelligence out of their females, so all they were good for was breeding and "comfort."
It would seem some Islamists see this as the only value of human females.

"The unnamed sheikh, who was featured in an article on el-Senousa news"
ReplyDeleteAn unnamed source in a non-existant news source. Gullibility Squad is go!
Yeah, it could be an epic trolling...
ReplyDeleteIt is epic, though. To top it you'd have to assert that doing the laundry was a major turn-on for women, and then rule that this was a bad thing that men should stop by doing more chores at home....
ReplyDeletePeter F, if it was epic trolling, then a couple of English-language Egyptian news sites bit the bait because that is where I first read the story. And Saudi clerics have made similar pronouncements about certain types of produce in the past.
ReplyDeleteMakes one really, really wonder exactly WHY the clerics are so paranoid about produce.

LR1, these guys are so weird black holes make sense.
ReplyDeleteThere's a fear of female arousal in that culture that makes the sourest and most stereotypical Puritan seem like a positive libertine.
