It reminds me of the guy in "The Great Divorce" who explains how his heretical theology is just the sort of thing Jesus would have come up with, later in life with the benefit of age and experience, if His life hadn't been so tragically cut short.

Jesus would have to take a Stupid pill to limit himself to "what we know today".The "moral teacher" thing is dishonest. From his own lips either Jesus was a lunatic or he was God incarnate. There is no middle ground.
