I have a British Officers sword circa 1850-1890 with an Afghan hilt. It still bears the family seal on the blade,which I have been unable to identify. Captured perhaps during a desperate struggle? Dropped from a lifeless hand during the waterless retreat from Maiwand? <br /><br />The Malayan Kris daggers used meteorite iron in the blades, pattern welded with steel- they were etched and the high nickel iron stood proud as silvery patterns of various descriptions. ravennoreply@blogger.com
