I generally agree that working men ought to receive fair, even generous pay -- that is orthodox, though less common in practice than it ought to be.
Still, I'm a little mystified about how this plan has anything to do with improving outcomes for workers. "Workers deserve more! Step one, abolish the Senate."
Socialists always use the good of the working class as their excuse to destroy the current system and create on in which they get to be the tyrants. It should ring like "Think of the children!"

Your mystification is a non sequitur, Grim. As TD noted just above, it's not about helping the workers, even though socialists treat them like children. Eliminating the Senate turns the US into a parliamentary tyranny of "people's representatives," and that's a body much easier to capture. Therein lies power for Party, and especially for the new Party's elite, and that's what the move is about.
