  2. It may be as simple as changing races. Life expectancy is less for Blacks, higher for NE Asians.

    My counties (straddle two) have a good-sized Hispanic population that freely imbibes, as do the Anglos and others. I can't drink, and am considered a bit odd. If I was a guy, it might be a problem, but most people don't mind my being the forever designated driver (or walker).

    I wonder if anyone has done a statistical correlation of these traits.

    Travis County, headquarters for Texas state government and home of UT-Austin, appears to have the highest reported incidence of binge or heavy drinking in the state.

    Or a carry over from drinking at Sixth Street clubs?
