- Prevent the removal of illegal aliens who have committed serious crimes in the US as well as all other illegal aliens
- Hold onto illegitimate political power in the House and Electoral College
- Protect the ability to fund Democrat causes through defrauding federal programs
- Protect the ability to gain political power through election fraud
- Provide a testing and training ground for further nation-wide organizing and obstruction
- As much as possible, reverse the elections of 2024 and obstruct the will of the people of the United States until Democrats can retake Congress and the Presidency
- Ultimately, in the long term, to gain power over the US through whatever means necessary (mainly fraud), strip us of our rights, and rule us similarly to the way the UK is currently ruled. This means disarming the people, eliminating genuine free speech via "hate speech" laws that punish their critics, guaranteeing access to abortions and to gender transition treatments to children, and eliminating freedom of conscience and religion by mandating religious organizations and individuals subordinate their consciences to progressive moral codes (e.g., being arrested for praying silently outside an abortion clinic, the Little Sisters of the Poor being forced to provide abortion coverage, no right for doctors to refuse to perform an abortion, no parental right to prevent gender transition by schools, etc.).
Those are the things the obstructionists in Minneapolis are fighting for. It may also be clarifying to note a few things for which they are not fighting.
What are the obstructionists NOT fighting for?
- Natural rights: They don't believe in natural rights and frequently infringe on the rights of their fellow citizens, forcing drivers to pull over and prove they don't work with ICE, demanding patriotic clothing be removed in order to avoid harm from a mob, ramming ICE and BP vehicles, invading a church during services, destroying the property of hotels that host ICE and BP agents, etc.
- American ideals: They believe the Founding Fathers were evil men who set up an evil system to maintain their own power and privilege and oppress the poor, non-whites, women, etc. They want to replace the Constitution, or at least re-interpret away every bit of it they don't like.
- Popular sovereignty: They don't care about the will of the people; they believe themselves engaged in the highest moral crusade and anyone who opposes them, even if that is a large majority of the people, not only can but should be trod under on the road to achieving their moral vision. They feel fully justified rigging elections, assassinating opponents, and doing whatever else is necessary to win the power to achieve their goals.
I feel sorry for the obstructionists. They have bought into a worldview based on a pack of lies. As they constantly remind us, they firmly believe they are the good guys and the rest of us are fascists. They are sincere, but they are wrong, and empathy for them is suicidal. They are the foot soldiers of tyranny, much closer to being fascists than the rest of us, and they must be resisted.
Any backing away from immigration operations in Minneapolis will be taken as a victory and will give a tremendous boost to similar obstruction operations across the blue cities in blue states. Their victory in Minneapolis would be another step toward our eventual enslavement. With the UK's sad slide into tyranny, the US has been able to stand up and at least give the British people venues to hear the truth and to express it. If the US falls to a UK-like tyranny, there will be no one to save us.

* Why "obstructionist"? I'm using "obstructionist" to differentiate those actively obstructing federal law enforcement from peaceful protestors who are lawfully exercising their rights to peaceful assembly and speech. Grim and another source I respect have objected to calling them insurgents, so although I do think this is the early stages of an insurgency, I will refrain from labelling them that until I've considered this more thoroughly. Maybe insurrectionist would be better? I need to think about it.
I get the sense that the most visible* of the Obstructionists, and the 2020 protesters before them, are far more interested in what they feel are moral causes, especially ones that they have come to feel very strongly about. That includes collectivism, and protecting “vulnerable communities.” The combination of feeling virtuous along with strong group approval, is a heady combination. “Natural Rights” are collective, with varying groups having different tiers of rights.

*Note, the organizers of the protests, and some of the others who attend the rallies and demonstrations, are different from the visible spokesmen and women, and the “model” protestors. Their motives overlap in places (collectivism as a positive good, for example), but are not the same.
I think you're right about moral causes and group approval. I really think they don't believe in natural rights; for them, the people have whatever rights the government allows them to have and that's the way it should be.

The obstructionists in Minneapolis IMNSHO are important only for their use as tools of the Left in the pursuit of their own goals. My comments, then, concern those Leftists, including the Progressive-Democratic Party.
ReplyDeletePreventing the removal of illegal aliens is a means, not a goal. The goal of the Left is the destruction of our republic and its replacement by a government that has them and their Progressive-Democratic Party politicians in charge of a government which, Knowing Better, will determine what rights we have and what rights we do not have--and the suite of what we have will shrink while what we do not have will grow.
This begins with limits on what we're permitted to say, what we're permitted to learn, all under the guise of eliminating whatever they deem to be "hate speech." This will also entail our disarmament via "common sense" gun laws--a common sense with only they will define.
My evidence for this is the Left's utter contempt for us average Americans, whom one of the founders of the modern progressive movement, Herb Croly, deemed unequal to our duties as democrats. Nancy Pelosi: tea partiers are astroturfers, Anderson Cooper: tea partiers just teabaggers. Obama: contemptuously dismissing millions of us as just bitter bible-clinging and gun-toting denizens of flyover country. Biden: 15% of us are just no good.
The Left's and especially the Progressive-Democratic Party's intrinsic racist bigotry, beginning with another of the movement's founders, Woodrow Wilson's overt racist bigotry. That's carried further by the Progressive-Democratic Party's emphasis on identity politics, which is sexist as well as racist; the Left's emphasis on the racist and sexist bigotry of DEI; and the Left's assumption, carried enthusiastically by "journalists," that every arrest of a black man, every shooting involving a white man shooting a black man must per force be a racist attack; the insistence--even after the Supreme Court ruled otherwise on using race and sex as an admission criterion; the claim that statistical disparities across racial or ethnic groups must of course be racially/sexistly motivated.
The Left's disdain for free market economics and its demand for government controls of our economy, beginning with the third progressive movement founder's, Teddy Roosevelt's, desire to nationalize 1/6th of our then economy, our railroads; Wilson's nationalization of all of our factories east of the Mississippi because they weren't producing what he wanted them to do (reversed only when the Supreme Court made him give them back), Truman's seizure of our steel industry over a strike (again requiring Supreme Court intervention to revers), the Progressive-Democratic Party's unilateral nationalization of 1/6th of our economy--our health care provision and health care coverage industry--in the form of the ACA.
The Left's and Party's overt intention of destroying our republic is illustrated by Obama's declaration just prior to his first Presidential election that he and Party were just days away from fundamentally changing our nation and Biden's first SOTU speech in which he declared his intent to fundamentally change our economy--both knowing full well that it's not possible to fundamentally change anything without first destroying it.
Party's intent on tyranny is demonstrated by its drumbeat of packing the Supreme Court in order to get rulings acceptable to them, and their constant closing of government--from Obama forward to today--whenever they can't get their way politically, seeking to impose their minority will on the majority.
