How can you be so heartless as to deny it to the very people who are most likely not to have money?

What's really heartless is the banks. They know people don't have the money; that's why they borrowed it. And then they expect it to be paid back? That's just greedy.Texan99https://www.blogger.com/profile/10479561573903660086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5173950.post-25319156712120812102012-07-21T10:55:15.402-04:002012-07-21T10:55:15.402-04:00"As Orson Aguilar, executive director of the ..."As Orson Aguilar, executive director of the nonprofit Greenlining Institute, puts it, any mortgage rules that would require homeowners to have a good job, good credit, and a hefty down payment are 'problematic.'"

Gee, I thought that was what you were supposed to do to show the lending entity that you are a good business risk.
Silly me, I've been coming at this from the wrong angle all this time.DL Slynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5173950.post-18442472830243542752012-07-21T10:47:32.378-04:002012-07-21T10:47:32.378-04:00When I was in Germany, I had a young airman workin...When I was in Germany, I had a young airman working for me who bounced a check at the base BX. Newly married, she and her sky cop husband always had had separate checkbooks and registers and now, with a unified checking account, they still kept separate check registers, out of habit. That bounced check could easily have been her husband's, which would have terminated his career that day.

The BX's $20 bad check fee was significant relative to their pay grade, too.

My airman and her husband learned that lesson on the spot.

Eric HinesE Hineshttp://aplebessite.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5173950.post-24660146924010988762012-07-21T10:33:37.926-04:002012-07-21T10:33:37.926-04:00Back when we were first married, my wife used to b...Back when we were first married, my wife used to be the worst in the world about overdrafting her debit card without checking the account. (We've always maintained separate accounts since before we were married, though we also have a joint account to ease money-sharing as necessary.) She probably did that ten or fifteen times.

It was a hard lesson for her to learn, but that's what the $30 fees were for. It cost us $300-$450, at a time in our lives when we were very poor, but I don't think she's done that in ten years now.Grimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07543082562999855432noreply@blogger.com
