Pulling up the drawbridge

My county has now closed the boat ramps, not because it's seriously a public health risk for people to go out in boats to fish, but because leaving them open felt too much like an invitation for careless yahoos to come visit.  New short-term rentals and hotel/motel bookings are also halted for the next couple of weeks.  Right now this tourist town has no patience for tourists.  Everyone remembers the Spring Break and Mardi Gras idiots.  No one wants even casual contact with anyone he doesn't know and trust to have been behaving responsibly.

There's huge anxiety over a Corpus Christi TV news station's report of 2 "Aransas" cases.  Wherever the guy got his information, the chances are they didn't know the difference between two nearby towns with "Aransas" in their name and "Aransas County."  Much Facebook bandwidth is now devoted to nailing down with perfect precision where the two culprits, if they exist at all, are located at this precise moment.

I'm telling people it doesn't make the tiniest difference.  We can't know exactly how many cases are out there.  We already know there are some (probably so far not many) cases fairly nearby.  That's it, that's all you need to know, and as much as you possibly can know right now.  You don't need to know who they are or exactly where they live, and we're not going to put the tiniest effort into finding that out for you or broadcasting it.  You need to behave as though the disease were present, because if it isn't yet, it will be, and you'll never know exactly where it is no matter how infallible you think the TV news anchor or some "expert" is.

Nothing about this news changes how you need to behave:  stay home as much as you can, and wash everything you touch, for your own sake and for the sake of your duty to neighbors.  As far as your own emergency medical needs go, you don't have any yet, so here's the plan:  LATER, if you're short of breath, call an ER and arrange to follow their protocols for going in.  LATER, if you have a fever, be even more careful about contaminating anyone else, including your household.  If you have both, do both.  If you have a fever but aren't short of breath, keep isolating yourself as much as possible, and be ready on short notice to contact the ER if, and only if, you get short of breath.  If you never get short of breath, then you're pretty much golden, so don't borrow trouble.  Just don't spread it.

Tom Bridgeland over at my site correctly points out this is not real panic, not selling-your-house-and-putting-on-white-robes panic. It is nervousness and non-productive squirrel-like behavior, however.

People won't geC19 out on the water, but hanging around on beaches and docks is a problem.

Salt air and sunshine are good for you vs viruses. People should be on the beaches, providing they don’t cluster.

If C4 goes offline tomorrow or after this comment, then know this. Don't go near cities or other fortresses of the rich, as the armored divisions will be sieging them. This mostly applies to Europe, but cities like Atlanta may be affected as well.

This warning does not affect the preppers, as they have already bugged out, sometimes in mobile homes, to their off grid sanctuaries.

Expect major city and urban population zones, as well as certain bunkers for millionaires, to become hotly contested warzones like Fallujah.

Grim said...

Can we make a small wager on that prediction? If you win I’ll let you write here as an author. If US cities aren’t Fallujah-style war zones by June, though, you have to do something for me. It’ll be free and require only minor adjustments on your part.

I think we'd like people to be out on the water, there's just too much fear that, as the rest of the coast shuts down, too many visitors will flock here. A strange reversal from the recent desperation to draw people here at all costs, as we were finally recovering from the hurricane.

I find it confusing that it is easy to find a city of a given name which is NOT located in the county with the same given name. Sometimes that is what you get- Dallas City is located in Dallas County. But Houston City is located in Harris County.
Here is a partial (?) listing of cities not located in the county of the same name.

Austin City (Travis County)not in Austin County
Burleson City (Johnson and Tarrant Counties)- not in Burleson County
Cameron City(Milam County) Cameron County
Crockett City (County seat of Houston County) not in Crockett County
Crosby City (Harris County) not in Crosby County
Houston City (Harris Cty) not in Houston County
Milanm is in Sabine County - not in Milam County
Port Aransas is in Nueces County, not in Aransas County
Aransas Pass is in Nueces, San Patricio and Aransas Counties
Sherman City is in Grayson County- not in Sherman County
Taylor City is in Williamson County- not in Taylor County
Terrell City is in Kaufman County- not inTerrell County
Travis is an unincorporated community in Falls County- not in Travis County.
Yoakum City (Lavaca and DeWitt CTY) not in Yoakum CTY
Zavala, Texas, was a town in Jasper County- not in Zavala County
Zavalla is in Angelina County - not in Zavala County

The Battle of San Jacinto was in Harris County, NOT in San Jacinto County

Some times the city and the county match.

Georgia is much the same. Forsyth, Georgia is not in Forsyth County; not Jefferson nor Jackson nor Madison. Etc.

There's an Aransas Bay and an Aransas River, both of which touch many counties.

It's not limited to cities rudely mislocated in other counties than their namesakes. When I was in Las Cruces, it was amusing at first, and then tiresome, to hear that New Mexico was a foreign nation, south of the US' southern border.

I can write one article on spiritual progression. I don't think the Heavens allows any more at this stage of the game.

I mention Fallujah because the military models are almost identical. There are Deep State/Cabal holding civilians as hostages, so the military needs to find some way to evacuate or clear out the non combatants, which happened in Fallujah due to an evacuation order. Here it is a self quarantine order, but it accomplishes mostly the same thing, especially as law and order is higher than in Iraq.

I would say, end of May not June.

So to clarify, I'll take the bet, but as I will only write one article, I reserve the right to choose amongst your "adjustments" one or two things I will enforce on myself, if the others are against not recommended by my Higher Self.

Who wants to be witnesses to this game? It's gonna be fun.

ymarsakar said...

Also the bet does not seem to cover Europe because well... who knows what is going to go on there. Americans going to Fortress mode, so forget foreigners, including Canada. Since many live near city limits, let's just go with US cities.

ymarsakar said...

But if military leaks or somebody gets news of American casualties fighting some kind of terrorism or looting in Europe or elsewhere, this will need to be verified as cover up of military operations or actual minor issues, first.

For verification, I propose we use either the Presidential emergency texting/tweeting and/or the https://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htecm/articles/20200401.aspx and/or the Drive site.

If the news reports cannot be verified, or there is disagreement on exactly what happened to whom, then the Presidential information takes priority.

To clarify or elaborate on why I chose those news specialists over what most people get their news from, the answer is simple. As I have sometimes infrequently mentioned here and elsewhere online, the "F-22" the hallmark or "cutting edge" of American technology... has already been obsolete for decades if not centuries. These programs are the "shell corps", ala Manhattan Project, designed as an onion security measure (and funding laundry) of R/D for the truly cutting edge of Space Force (or in this case just the Navy's SSP which is more appropriately termed S Space Program).

Why this matters for our little bet... well, it obviously does. As conventional military vs guerilla operations will automatically include the deployment of exotic technologies that few if anyone knows about.
