Pearl Harbor Day

Few are left now who were there to tell us what they remember. The Navy has people detailed to making sure the rest of us know the story.

Fewer and fewer of the survivors left. One is Lou Conter, who was piped in as he arrived in Honolulu International. A fitting honor and great moment.

The list of actions receiving commendation that day is amazing (and terrible). Reading it, it reminded me that it's good the Navy dropped the silly idea of eliminating the traditional ratings for generic codes, and brought them back. They in and of themselves are full of history.
