Draken Harald Hårfagre

By great good fortune, this beautiful ship's voyage to DC coincides with my need to be here for Jimbo's book party. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to see it in person. What a fine tribute, and what a worthy thing to sail such a ship across the Atlantic. All news is not bad, and the weather is fine.

Wow, that's fantastic! It also has to be the best home page header banner I've ever seen. I clicked over and just watched the whole banner before I even thought about scrolling down.

I don't suppose they have any plans to make the Pacific some day?

I don't know. That would be quite an accomplishment.

There are a series of video's on the construction of the ship on youtube, as well as the voyage. Very interesting skill set. Norse methods are quite different than the English.

I've been following the Dragon Harald Fairhair project from the beginning, as it was built in Haugesund, on the turf of my dad's ancestors. The ship was supposed to come to Duluth for the Tall Ships event 2 summers ago, but had to cancel because they couldn't afford pilotage fees. Deep disappointment. My Viking group was going to be there to act as historical interpreters.
