A Handmade Longbow

Neeman Tools, maker of hand-forged woodworking tools and knives, will soon be selling handmade longbows. Here's a great video they made of a bowyer crafting one.

Extraordinary. Thanks.
I would not have expected to see the bends in the bow that late in the production cycle, but it certainly looked strong enough to take the stress when it was finished.

You can't afford it.

Luckily for me, right now I don't need one. I really just enjoyed watching the process and craftsmanship.

Make it. Break it, and make another. Lots of instruction available.

yeah, but Yew is not common. Now, on ebay, you can find guys making $45 40lb D shaped bows from Florida hickory, and throw in a flemish twist bowstring to boot.

Even my unskilled an untalented self can put an arrow on a target at 100 yars with one of those.

I should probably practice more.
