Where's the Deal?

Meaning Governor Nathan Deal, my governor, who has for some reason vanished off the face of the earth.
Here’s what we know: Deal left Georgia on an economic development trip over the weekend. His office didn’t disclose his destination, and his public schedule remains blank.
That's a little unusual. Hope he's got something big up his sleeve, though, because -- as I may have mentioned -- Georgia's unemployment remains the worst in the nation. A little 'economic development' is just what we need.

I mean, he missed MLK Day for it. In Georgia, and especially in Atlanta, there's huge. He's pushing back his speech before the Legislature from the opening of the session to two days later. Whatever it is, he'd better have a pretty good explanation when he comes back on the grid.

NH had Gov Meldrim "Ax the Tax" Thomson - who was from GA, BTW - who used to head out for South Africa or the Panama Canal all the time in the 1970's.

Just ahead of his time.

Check my blog for an unusual result of looking him up.

Well, we did too -- more mayors of Atlanta than governors, but once Atlanta became one of the first major American cities to regularly elect black mayors, they often traveled in Africa on 'economic development' missions.

I checked your blog, and searched the name with Google and "site:http://assistantvillageidiot.blogspot.com/", but nothing is immediately clear to me. Was it the Abba video? :)

Not up yet. But some fun about Mel Thomson coming.

I was going to say that the last time this happened with a local Governor, I ended up eating a lot of crow defending his ability to leave the grid without a "by your leave". But Eric kind of beat me to it.
