"Hello, 911? Could You Send A Deputy To Supervise My Parenthood?"

Is it worse that our culture's faith in parental authority has become so weak that this seemed plausible to someone, or that our faith in governmental authority has become so strong?

Sounds like the deputies wish you'd just take care of it on your own. That's easy to understand: "Watch me spank my daughter" is the sort of request that could only make one uncomfortable.

It's also dangerous, since the police can at anytime decide to execute a member of the family if they feel like it, even if there are consequences afterwards, that doesn't bring back the dead.

A lot of people think that if they can't resolve family issues, they would bring in the police and they'll handle it. Sometimes they will, such as at Vista, and sometimes they won't. And sometimes it's both at the same time.

In certain states, CPS will take away the children of parents, often for non sensical reasons or Leftist child predation reasons. Thus the police may be a kind of backup for parents worried that their parental authority would be taken away.

There are indeed stories of CPS rigging up charges for parents, so that they can take the children away. Who then rot around as the next generation of criminals in the system. Getting close to Leftist agents in the government can do that.
